Two People Taken To The Hospital After Large House Fire

WORTHINGTON, Pa. (KDKA) — Two people were transported to the hospital and multiple pets died after a large house fire in Worthington.

One person was flown to a hospital in Pittsburgh and the other was taken to a local hospital. Their conditions are unknown but the family says they expect them to be okay.

The fire caused a large hole to break open in the middle of the home and it is expected to be a total loss. One cat and one dog died and one cat and one dog are also missing.

According to the fire chief, it was a two-alarm fire and multiple crews were needed as they had difficulty with the structure of the home and its remote location.

Crews were called to the home on Pump Station Road around 6:30 p.m. and they believe the fire was likely caused by an electric heater but the official cause is under investigation.
